	The AFED benchmark report has been prepared by well-established Arab researchers and experts. The planning and supervisory committee, headed by Dr. Mostafa Kamal Tolba, former Executive Director of UNEP, includes: Dr. Adnan Badran, former Prime Minister of Jordan and President of the Arab Academy of Science; Dr. Abdulrahman Al-Awadi, former Minister of Health in Kuwait and Executive Secretary of the Regional Organization for the Protection of Marine Environment (ROPME); Dr. Mohammad Kassas, former President of IUCN and professor emeritus at Cairo University; Najib Saab, Secretary-General of AFED and Editor-in-Chief of Environment & Development .
