The Steering Committee of the Mediterranean Commission for Sustainable Development (MCSD) met in Greece in preparation for the General Assembly of the Commission and the Conference of the Parties to the Barcelona Convention for the Protection of the Marine and Coastal Environment of the Mediterranean, which will be held in Cairo next December. The Arab Forum for Environment and Development (AFED), whose Secretary General is the vice president of the committee, called for strengthening environmental, economic and political cooperation between Arab and Mediterranean countries, in order to preserve their common interests and to strengthen their collective position in a changing world.
