Arab Forum for Environment & Development is governed by a Board of Trustees, representing environmental experts alongside business, media and civil society leaders. During a transitory period, Board Members are invited by the Founding Members. The main criteria for selection to the Board are that the members should be committed to the cause of sustainable development, and pledge their support and contribution to AFED, in the form of expertise and resources. The Board might select Chief Executive Officers from partner companies to join as members.
The Board of Trustees elects an Executive Committee, including President, two Vice Presidents, Financial Officer and Secretary General. It also appoints an external auditor.
The Board of Trustees meets annually to decide on the Organization’s policies, programmes and budget.
The Executive Committee oversees the overall management of the organization, including programmes and financial matters, and normally meets twice a year.
Responsibility for the daily management of AFED lies with the Secretary General, assisted by a core secretariat.
