AFED Report in IPCC Online Archival Library

30/1/2012

The report on the Impact of Climate Change on Arab Countries, published in 2009 by the Arab Forum for Environment and Development (AFED), has been included in the worldwide database of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC). Upon the request of the IPCC, AFED has granted the world climate body the right to provide the report, edited by Mostafa Kamal Tolba and Najib Saab, on IPCC's free online archival library.

AFED's report on climate change has been cited the IPCC Special Report on Managing the Risks of Extreme Events and Disasters to Advance Climate Change Adaptation (SREX). On November 18, 2011, the report's Summary for Policymakers was approved by the member governments of the IPCC. The full report will be published in March 2012. An overview of this report can be found at http://www.ipcc-wg2.gov/AR5/sr.html.

AFED annual reports on the state of Arab environment, published since 2008, are now considered the main credible source of information on environmental issues in the region, and have been widely cited around the world. AFED's report on climate change was preceded in 2008 by its groundbreaking report "Arab Environment: Future Challenges", followed by "Water, Sustainable Management of a Scarce Resource" in 2010 and "Green Economy in a Changing Arab World" in 2011.
